Nine years out of a church basement
Soundz Of Pure Delight began with six voices in 2018 seeking an unfettered way to praise. We gather singers, musicians, and believers across southwest Ohio who believe music is not entertainment, but ministry that softens hearts and repairs weary spirits.
Huffman Avenue Rehearsal
Where the harmony was forged
It began because nobody else turned up
On a damp Tuesday evening in late autumn 2018, six singers from different congregations walked down the wooden stairs of a church basement on Huffman Avenue in Dayton. There was no sound board, no in-ear monitors, and no sheet music distributed. Just an upright piano with two sticky keys and a collective desire to sing without an agenda.
Word spread quietly across the Miami Valley. Church soloists who were exhausted by performance culture, retirees who missed the unhurried meter hymns of their youth, and neighborhood kids who had never sung four-part harmony all gathered on folding metal chairs. We did not hold auditions. We did not charge membership dues.
Today, Soundz Of Pure Delight remains anchored by that simple fellowship. Whether we are leading praise in a neighborhood sanctuary, singing in a hospital rotunda, or releasing choral arrangements online, our standard remains unbroken: worship that costs nothing to witness and points solely to grace.
“When the song is true, the walls come down. We don’t sing for applause; we sing until the room meets God.”
Three commitments we will never trade away
Guiding every rehearsal, concert, recording, and fellowship across our ministry.
Worship over performance
Singing to God, not to impress. When the room enters worship and every gaze turns heavenward, our job is done. The choir is never the center of the sanctuary.
Honest lyrics
Music rooted in scripture, real struggle, and unshakeable praise. We write and select songs that acknowledge pain, celebrate redemption, and speak truth without platitudes.
Open doors
No tickets, no barriers. Everyone who walks into the hall is welcome. The gospel is a gift, and every seat at our ministry evenings is free of charge to any soul.
